There is simply nothing like us in all of Oregon. The Cat's Pajamas B&B, a small (accommodations for only 6 cats) and exclusive B&B run by veterinarian referred feline behaviorist and veterinary trained and credentialed Pet Technician, Mieshelle Nagelschneider, is a more humane and health conscious way to board cats. When you go away, you want the peace of mind of knowing your cats are safe, content, stress-free, and well taken care of. The best way to also ensure your cats' happiness is to place them in surroundings that are familiar to them, not inside noisy, smelly, or otherwise uncomfortable cages where their litter box is right next to their food and water dishes. For health and behavioral reasons, your cat should not be able to visibly see (or smell) another cat. Our suites offer this and the most peace of mind in cat boarding in the Portland area (compare), and that's why Mieshelle is vet-referred and personally used by vets, and on the Oregon Humane Society's and The Cat Adoption Team's Resource Page for cat boarding as well as cat behavioral consulting. Visit www.thecatbehaviorclinic.com to learn more about Mieshelle's international success stories with her cat behavior clients. Mieshelle is an Associate Cat Behavior Consultant with the IAABC, www.IAABC.org. Her study of animal behavior was at Harvard University.
Mieshelle's expert advice has been used in Cat Fancy Magazine, This Wild Life, Pet Magazine, The Divine Cat, and The Daily Cat.
Where Would Your Kitty Like to Stay?
Walk-in Glass Parisian Habitats ($20.00 per day)
Giant Guest Room Suites ($25 - $45 first kitty per day, $15.00 each additional kitty)
Check out Portland's most luxurious and spacious cat boarding
Our bed and breakfast has real, human sized bedrooms that are private and your cat's very own. Ultra-comfy and familiar, just like your cat's own everyday surroundings. (We've had clients say they'd rather stay here than go on their vacation. I've seen wives elbow their husbands and shoot them a certain kind of look because my rooms for their cats are nicer than the ones the husbands just booked for their vacations). There are three suites, Purrtopia Suite, the popular "Bunny Chandelier" Room, and the heavenly 450 sq. ft. Grand Bird Suite. Click on the thumbnails below for a larger picture. The "Jewel of the Serengeti" is the new up and coming suite! For health and behavior reasons, cats are never intermingled.
Most importantly, when your cats are with us at The Cat's Pajamas B&B. . .
Expertise.
24 hours a day, your cats are in the care of Mieshelle, a
vet-referred, experienced and credentialed pet
technician
and medically trained as a veterinary assistant,
and
a
vet-referred
professional feline
behaviorist since 1989. She is currently in the
certification process to become Oregon's first and only
Certified Feline Behavior Consultant. Medicine and injections are
administered knowledgably, and for no charge.
No Fleas.
Your cats are staying in the only flea-free facility
in all of Oregon. No cat is admitted with fleas.
.
Peace and Quiet.
Maximum number of cats at the B&B is 6.
Your cats are in an immaculately clean, quiet, peaceful
environment to reduce stress and ease the transition home for fewer behavioral
issues. Feliway Comfort Zone diffusers are used in every room. Your
cats drink from free-flowing filtered water fountains by Drinkwell (#1 veterinary recommended).
Smart Diet.
Your cats eat their accustomed food, for maximum digestive
happiness. ( Above: Stubbs receiving
his SQ. fluids by Mieshelle)
Playtime for Physical and Mental Health.
Your cats receive playtime separate from other cats (and outside of
their condos, for the condo-dwellers). Because cramped
boarding facilities are a primary reason cats lose muscle tone,
and featureless and unstimulating environments can lead to
stress back at your home, all of our lodgings have play areas
specifically designed to give your cats exercise and mental
stimulation.
Toys and Treats.
Your cats have lots of toys and treats (at your request and if consistent with
their diets, of course)
We offer a lot more than humane boarding -- We offer you peace of mind!
Our new cat condos (walk-in glass enclosures) are state-of-the-art -- no wire cages, no tight boxes. And they're bigger and more humane than anything else you'll find in the Portland area. Upon entering the Paris Cat Lofts you (and possibly your cat) will feel as if they have entered into a cafe in Paris, cat style, of course! We know of only one vet that has these at his practice in Utah. Our glass enclosures are ventilated and receive full-spectrum natural lighting and fresh air. In keeping with the way cats prefer to keep their activities separate, your kitties can exercise and move around on several separate areas: a lower level strictly for their litter box, a level for eating and drinking, and several fun platforms and levels for resting and prowling. Our condos have a floor footprint of 16 square feet and are six feet tall, for a total of 96 cubic feet of space! $20 per night for the first cat, $15 for additional cats. The 7 ft. tall windows allow maximum air flow and freshness, and look out onto the birds, squirrels and butterfly garden. The cats all get turns coming out into the play/living area 4 times daily to relax in the sun on the back of the couch or play with toys. There are only 4 enclosures so we do tend to fill rather quickly.
