Cat
Boarding
Why is your
boarding so much better?
My boarding facilities are recommended by many veterinarians and
are the most spacious, luxurious and comfortable in all of
Portland -- and for the same prices as other facilities' small
cages. We are also not a huge boarding facility, but
rather a small and exclusive B&B, caring for only several cats
at a time. My condos and suites are immaculately clean,
quiet, full of soft luxuriant throws and fabrics, human-sized
bedroom sets and furniture, stuffed with toys and platforms to
play on; my condos and guest suites receive natural lighting and feature soothing Feliway
Comfort Zone spray and filtered water fountains. My guests
also get more attention from humans, including from me, a
veterinarian-referred cat behaviorist, certified advanced pet
technician, accredited pet technician, experienced veterinary
assistant, and Associate of the International Association of
Animal Behavioral Consultants. See more on
my background and credentials.
Can I see your boarding facilities before making a reservation?
Yes, by appointment. However, you will get a good sense of
the guest suites and condos from the website, while some cat
boarding facilities show photos that may not show the full
picture (such as chicken wire or the presence of litter boxes
placed next to food bowls), my abundant pictures of my
facilities are an accurate representation of what your cat will
see and experience.
What diet is included?
Cats do best on their own diets, so to keep intestinal
disturbances at bay, I keep your cat on the familiar food that
you bring. If you have experience with your cat readily
accepting and digesting new foods comfortably, I also supply Iams Maintenance Dry and a variety
of high-end healthy canned foods.
What
should I bring when my cat checks in?
* Proof of vaccination history if you vaccinate your cat (a note
from your vet or vet's number if you do not vaccinate).
* Name and phone number of your regular vet.
* Numbers where you can be reached while you are away, or, if
you are unreachable, contact numbers of another person.
* An item from home with your scent on it (t-shirt, pillow case,
blanket, etc.)
* Some of your cat's favorite items, if you'd like (toys, cat
bed, scratcher post, brushes, etc.).
* The remainder of your payment, if you haven't already sent it.
* Your cat's regular food is highly recommended but we do serve
IAMS Maintenance Dry as well.
Full-size litter boxes, covered or uncovered, are provided with
Feline Pine or Scoopaway unscented clumping litter.
What condition do cats need to be in for you to board them, and
what proof do you require?
Free of fleas and vaccinated for distemper combo (FVRCPC) and
Rabies. Please bring your proof of vaccination when you
bring your cat for boarding. We take into consideration
cats who are not vaccinated because of age, allergic reaction or
vaccine site sarcoma.
Will my cat have human activity around so that my cat doesn't
feel so alone?
Yes, and often and especially if your cat likes to be social.
In addition to the large windows that look out onto the squirrel
and bird feeders, I and even member of my household spend a lot of time in the same areas where
our guests are resting. If your cats like to play, that is
what we will do. If your cat likes to relax, then I can
spend hours with them as I work on my laptop or read. Many cats
that are regulars here also get to visit the "Queen's Suite" (My
Master Suite) that is over 500 square feet. This is enough
room for running and playing with a wand and lure toys! We
also play music for cats on request (probably this will have to
be your request, because there are no cat guests on record as
having made such requests).
Will you play with my
cat?
Yes, we play with (if they are playful) and pet all of our
guests. We like to treat them just like our own; sometimes
a friendly or frequent feline guest will even join us while we
watch television or read a book.
Will my cat see
another cat?
Cat's are never intermingled with each other or even see another
cat while staying in the guest suites upstairs. Cats
staying in the glass enclosure condos downstairs will only see
other cats across a room and through their respective condos'
glass doors. If seeing another cat is upsetting or stressful to
a cat boarding, then a partition can easily be put into place.
The glass enclosure condos are also movable and can be moved
across the room or closer to the window, whichever your cat
prefers. The glass condos are also large enough for a person to
walk in and play, hold or pet a cat.
Are you able to give my cat its medication or injections?
Yes, and there is no fee for either one! (All boarding
facilities known to me charge for both services).
